It's the gum!

What do you like about your dental/orthodontic office?
I seriously want to know why, when people have a choice, do they go AND STAY with their dental health care provider.
We had a staff meeting today and reviewed some of the things we do well, and some of the things we don't do as well - all in the effort to strive toward something better.
We put the question out there for our patients to answer, "What do you like about our office?".
The number one answer was:
"we get gum."
Great. Big help.

So, tell me. What DO you like about your dentist or orthodontist? (And yes, they should be two different people!!)

Rich or Handy?

If you had the choice, what would you be - rich or handy?
My feeling is that if you are not one, you need to be the other.
Which leaves us in a prediciment 'cause we are definately neither!
There is so much that needs to be done around our house and also so much that I want to have done around our house. For now, those things will remain as is.

I asked Ethan that same question.

Me - "Ethan, what would you rather be - rich or handy?"
Ethan - "What's handy?"
Darrin - "Being able to fix stuff on your own - NOT like daddy"
Ethan - "Oh. I think rich 'cause then you get a big house and a nice boat for free."
Me - "Well, hon, it's not free"
Ethan - "Oh right. But if I were rich, I'd have a thousand dollars and I could buy whatever I want"

We still might tackle our fireplace on our own though (and call on our handy or rich friends to bail us out)!

C.R.A and Me

I've been audited.
I always thought that you needed to have money to get audited.
Apparently not.

My childcare expenses are under review so I have to provide a copy of Bernadette's T4 (which I created) to prove HOW EXPENSIVE KIDS ARE!!!

I've also just finished writing all my post-dated cheques for the remainder of the year to the loverly Canada Revenue Agency. Employers pay a lot to have employees and employees pay a lot to work. I'm sure there is a social studies lesson in democratic and socialist governments here but I'll refrain. At least B will get some EI back soon! Is that my silver lining in all of this?!

Anyhoo, we had a great weekend away camping with friends. It really was great. Old friends, new friends, all friends are now better friends, no fights, no serious injuries - all the markings of a great weekend. And I learned a lot about cattle ranching. I may have come across as annoying and dumb but I am truly ignorant about the whole farming industry. How are you gonna learn if you don't ask? I might even go help during calfing/calving season but I'll leave the "bedazzling" to the pros :-)

Momma Bear

So I went "momma bear" on a kid at the playground today.
I wish I didn't.
Ethan was embarrased (I think) but at least he got his hat back.

Where's the line there? My son wasn't defending himself, and I happened to be there. Should a parent speak up? I wasn't rude but I did strongly suggest that he keep his hands to himself and if its not his, don't touch it.

I guess I'll have to chat with Ethan to see if he got a wedgie for having a loser mom today.
My bad.
